"When The Body Shop International opened in 1976, on $8,000 in borrowed money, the phenomenal success of the business today would have appeared a pipe dream. Provocative, funny, and outrageous--Roddick tells her story, and expresses her unconventional views on hype, greed, caring and communion." (book review Amazom.com)

When I first encountered this book in 1994, I was already working in the fashion industry. Back then, the concepts of sustainable and ethical fashion were not part of our vocabulary. Little did I know that Anita's philosophy would later become a guiding light in my career. As the years passed, the profound influence of this book on my journey became increasingly apparent, leading me to where I am today.

Reading "Body and Soul" by Anita Roddick was a transformative experience for me. I kept the book on my reading table for years to keep her story fresh in my mind. Roddick's journey in establishing The Body Shop on ethical practices and social impact sparked a newfound level of inspiration and motivation. It fueled my passion for collaborating with ethical makers and advocating for businesses that bring positive change.

Since then, Roddick's vision of integrating purpose into business operations has been a guiding force in my work, and today I am happy to look back on my journey in fashion and see how her story influenced my vision, passion, and career. I am able to do this today through Inside Fashion Design, where I am dedicated to promoting ethical fashion, cultivating a community that prioritizes sustainability and social good, and sharing my knowledge for creating fashion consciously.

Even though the book was written 30 years ago it is still a powerful reminder that businesses can be a force for good. I believe Roddick's story will continue to inspire those who believe in combining profit with purpose, making it a must-read for anyone interested in ethical entrepreneurship and social impact.
